Nuweiba Overview

Nuweiba is coastal town located in the eastern part of Sinai peninsula. the city lies between Sinai mountains and the Gulf of Aqaba. After October war the town expanded and a new port was established with ferries running every day to Aqaba in Jordan. Between the town and the port tourist hotels were established. The town originally was inhabited by two main tribes the Tarabeen in the North and the Maizena in the south. The Tarabeen area is a place where restaurants and bazaars stand side by side giving the atmosphere of an oriental market place. The Maizena and the port of Nuweiba are connected by sand dunes.
History
Nuweiba is a less developed tourist resort on the coast of South Sinai, 70 km south of Taba and 180 km north of Sharm el Sheikh and only 110 km from Saint Katherine. In the early 80s to almost a decade ago Nuweiba was the favorite destination for independent travelers due to its ideal central location and its natural beauty. When investors discovered the commercial importance of the virgin beaches between Nuweiba and Taba and ultimately opened deluxe hotels to mass tourism, camp owners and family hotels suddenly saw themselves in competition with well-known chain hotels offering flight and hotel packages to unbeatable prices. Nuweiba today is an insider tip for tourists and travelers who are looking for a unique holiday off the beaten path. It is a very personal experience, an adventure that lets you experience the art of hospitality and the encounter with friendly local people. Maybe put is like this: Nuweiba is a wild and tortured land of incredible beauty.
